I took out a contract for a Samsung tablet with Vodacom in Bayside mall in June 2013. Towards the end of August 2013, I discovered that the tablet no longer worked when the keyboard was connected. I went back to Bayside who told me they would need to send it to Canal Walk branch for repairs so I could take it there myself to expedite things. I did so but Canal Walk sent me to Samsung itself (who sent me back). Long story - Vodacom cannot accept it at any branch and I should take it directly to an approved Samsung repair store (contact details supplied to me).
However, I have since become aware that the Consumer Protection Act gives me the choice of a cancellation of the contract (i.e. a refund) or a new tablet or a repair (my choice). This was not ever conveyed to me by Vodacom - I was told that it would be repaired and a new tablet given to me if it could not be repaired.
I have subsequently emailed complaints to Vodacom on 12 December 2013 (response received which resulted in the same thing as described above happening again). Followed up by 2 emails on 6 and 8 January 2014 - no response. email address sent to : [Email Removed]
