I renewed my broadband data contract for another two years in November 2013. Suddenly I have been charged content charges.
Enquiries from my local MTN revealed that is from a company called Emu Trading.
How is it possible that MTN can allow another party deductions off my account with MTN? I consider this in the highest degree.
The salesman was only able to send an sms to 45230 to request cancellation. Cancellation of what indeed? I never subscribed to anything from this company.
Who knows if the content charges have been cancelled. There is nothing in writing!
In January 2012, I had exactly the same problem with MTN with a company called Samber Trading and it was only after contact with WASPA that it was confirmed that I had been unsubscribed from their member SMSNET SA.
Unfortunately I chose to renew my contract with MTN as this was the easier route to go.
I am extremely annoyed at MTN service, but to cancel the contract I will have to pay the 24 mth charges I am contracted to.
So here I go again trying to solve a problem myself that should fall on the shoulders of MTN!
