For the last 2 months Content Charges were deducted from my MTN account. I was not aware of this. MTN cannot do ANYTHING (they will probably say it is in their terms and conditions). They referred me to [URL Removed] - the company that handles the content. This company can at least cancel the transaction but cannot provide any further information. They think the charges might come from a smartphone app... What is the legal course that I can take to stop these kind of behaviour? Clearly this is a transaction with no proof that the transaction actually took place.
It is possible to stop any content charges on your MTN phone by dialing *141*5# and selecting the 2nd option. Obviously MTN won't do this for all contracts as they are making commission out of it.
But at least they have R200 and an angry customer!
