MTN bullying tactics

I recently went into MTN Fourways to do a sim swop as I had misplaced mine when changing phones. The agent informed that I could not get a new sim until I paid R6000 outstanding on my account. As i am on a direct debit it is hardly possible this is correct but if so MTN not contacted me as should be the case. As usual, i am a long term reasonably good value client. So what is happening or more l not happening?

In my humble opinion refusing to issue a new sim in this situation is a particular kind of distasteful bully tactics not to mention totally UN customer centric. MTN knows how much critical information is linked to an individual's sim. MTN also knows very well they need not expose themselves to risk if a new sim is issued as they can suspend the line which can allow the customer to access critical information such a bank transactions whilst the situation is resolved.

None of this was considered just the laziest line of least resistance where I walked out of MTN with nothing but bad taste in my mouth. And my resolve that despite how long my contract is I will not make a call on the MTN network ever again.

I have sent 2 emails to MTN already. Still not reply.
