BEWARE OF ABSA SMALL BUSINESSES IN SOUTH AFRICA. ABSA has decided, without ANY notice to suspend our company's account. The call centre agent (Elton) tells me that this is because FICA information is required. This is criminal - to suspend an account without notice! We have been severely compromised by not being able to make payments since Thursday. I find is disgusting that a financial institute can act with such audacity and arrogance in dealing with small businesses. Am now told to go into the branch to fix. How dare you suspend a critical service such as banking without notice? We will be seeking legal advice on how to take this further and recover any costs and damages incurred. Any other banks looking for business, we are keen to switch ASAP. The call centre could not reinstate the account (temporarily) to allow us to make critical payments. DISGUSTED!!!
