MTN giving clients refurbished phones

My phone was blocked on saturday by mtn, which makes no sense to me seeing that this phone was given to me by mtn the glen. what is concerning is that this was intially a contract that i have taken with mtn.
i visited the mtn store at the geln and was told that i must come with my id and an affidavit stating that the phone was mine, after a 80km round trip getting all of this sorted out and bringing the relevent docs to mtn, i wastold that this will not be done over night.
today is tuesday 3 days after the phone has been blacklisted and still i cannot do anything with my phone, i called the call centre and was told that there is still n0 request sent from mtn the gle, i spoke to Thembinkosi Khumalo and he advised that the phone is now unblocked and i need to leave the phone completely off for 72 hours!!! thats another 3 days???
i need to understand the following:
-why was i so much Inconvenienced for an error on mtn's side??
-why was the imie number not verified before blacklisting the phone
-why does it take a week and my time to get the phone unblocked???
-who from mtn will be refunding me 80kms worth of petrol to get an mtn issue sorted out?
