Wifi not working on Mini Samsung S3

Hi,

I bought my Samsung SIII mini in August this year. I work in Angola for 3 months and am only home 3 week after every 3 months.

So imagine my surprise that my phones wifi stopped working after 6 weeks. Especially since the data rate on Vodacom bill from Angola is R102/mb. Wifi is thus the only means of using the internet on my phone. Internet I sincerely need to use whatsapp and stay in contact with my family.

2 days ago it still worked perfectly and then all of a sudden I am getting the message: "Network disabled. Poor connection", yet the signal strength is shown as strong and my laptop has no problem connecting to the wifi.

I would sincerely like some information on either how to rectify this or a way that I can get a phone which actually works from Vodacom on my retun to SA.
