Retaining customers, not working

I phoned the cancellations department yesterday to find out when I can cancel my contract as I wanted to move to a different service provider seeing that they had a better package deal for what I needed. Cancellations then said to me that they can better the package and they truly did come up with a better deal for me. The problem is that I wanted 2 such contracts as it was my intention to get two similar contracts from the other serivce provider. Cancellations then advised that I needed to speak to the sales department. Sales told me that they could not match the deal that cancellations was offering me. This is ridiculous! It is the same company and they would rather lose a client to a different service provider than offer two similar contracts (one already being approved). I had excellent service from both Yolanda at cancellations and Raymond at Sales, unfortunately they can only go as far as their mandate allows them.
