Please explain

Can someone please explain to me, why I cannot surf internet or stream media. This contract was taken out before the issue where if you take out a BB contract now, you will have to purchase data.
I still purchased 500 MB of data and 75MB of fair usage. Yet still i cannot use my phone for what I am paying for when contract signed. Free internet usage!!! This is in breach of contract, why can service providers change terms and conditions, but the account holder may not cancel the contract without penalties. Why the account holder is held responsible for MTN's poor planning towards this.
