Ripped Off by Excessive Charges

My daughter received a new Samsung S4 on 7 August on an Anytime 350 package... in addition to what comes with the package, i.e. data, phone minutes and SMS's, she has a R50 limit on the phone. She later downloaded Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tmbler, Angry Bird and DJ Studio 5, Skype and Hillclimb Racing and was softlocked by Thursday afternoon 3pm due to large downloads. I then increased her R50 limit due to this and, within an hour, was softlocked was once again. Another call to Nashua had the limit increased again by R450. During the night she received an SMS to say that she had once again been softlocked, but this time she had gone R3 100-00 over her limit! The Nashua customer service line was not helpful as all the person could tell me was that I was liable for the expense, but did promise to revert to me. My issue is... firstly, how can a line with a R50 call limit on allow this sort of cost to be downloaded? Secondly, what sort of apps are of this size? Almost 1 000 mbs of data!!! and, thirdly, why are these issues not explained to unsuspecting customers when collecting a so called data hungry "smart" phone? She now won't use the phone as what other downloads are lurking?
