Should be a simple SIM swap

I have a R199 per month (10GB) internet contract with 8ta and my SIM card recently stopped working. My wife tried to take the SIM card in to the store to get it swapped for a working one. However, they refused to deal with her in any way because she is not the account holder. Then, I went in yesterday and the systems were down, so they could not do the swap. I returned today and although the systems were now up, I was told that they could not do the swap without me producing my SA ID book. Really?? I offered my drivers license (which is sufficient to open a bank account), but this was not accepted. All my details are on record already. Why do you need my ID book to do a simple SIM swap?

I'm over it now. I am not going back to the store a fourth time. I shall just be cancelling my contract and notifying my bank to remove the debit order from my account.
