Very poor service

I was contacted by a call center agent from telkom and applied for the adsl package which would include a adsl modem... I asked the agent if I could fetch it and was told that as soon as the line is approved I could... But after driving all the way to gateway I find out that there is no stock..I then drove to Phoenix only to be told that they also don't have stock... When I asked when I should come in I was told to keep checking... How do I check if they don't answer phones at a walk in store??? Does telkom think I open a tap an get petrol for free? I'll be paying for a service that I can't use if there's no stock of the modem... Really not happy with the after sales service... It's like once they make a sale all the politeness is gone!!!
