Huge bill for int. calls after phone was!

My phone was a few weeks ago. I have just received my account for my contract which shows that in between the time my phone was and the sim card was blocked, my number was used to make 45 international calls to Sierra Leone totaling over R3700. The number was also subscribed to paid content services at R750 per month.

The MTN SP call centre (808) representative informed me that I have no recourse and I am forced to pay R5700 this month for my contract. This is in spite of never activating international dialing and cancelling my SIM card as soon as possible.

I will be porting to another network as soon as my contract expires. I find MTN's response to this ordeal totally unsatisfactory. It is self-evident that the calls were not made by me and the fact that MTN are forcing me to pay thousands of Rand for the criminal acts of someone indicates that they are not willing to make any concession for customers that have been loyal to their network for nearly 10 years.
