Since February 2013 my expensive Mtn Sh@relink uncapped lite subscription has been next to useless.
I understand that the fare-use policy reduces speeds after the 3 GB cap is reached, but recently the advertised speed of "up to 4 Mbps" within that cap (which presumably is only limited by the device and cell reception) has been closer to 200 Kbps in HSPA reception areas and I find it difficult to exceed 50 Kbps once the cap has been achieved.
The call centre is also useless - they suggest I wait until the monthly cap resets or that I upgrade my SIM (with the whole RICA rigmarole) as though that could explain the drop in speed to 5% of what is promised.
Furthermore now it stops working entirely every 30-60 min until I reset the device (an inconvenience when surfing but crippling if I'm downloading something).
I am completely unimpressed (and that's saying a lot as my previous experience is with the ridiculously expensive Vodacom - but at least their policies worked!)
The worst is that while it was working fine during 2012, now I'm forced to eat my words and tell friends rather to take their money elsewhere despite my previously high recommendations.
