Why is the prorata work out in correctly

Id taken out contracts from 8ta the 20 may I received the bill at the end of May, double the price for the phone that orginal agreed on, now they come and tell me they don't work prorata out on the phone they charge you for the whole of May and I think is incorrect I did not use the phone for the whole of May. so it means for 24month it will be from the 20th of May 2013 to 20th of May 2015. so what 8ta do is they charge me for 20days more on this contract that I think it is wrong.
