Contract still not activated

I opened a new R599 IPHONE 5 contract with vodacom last friday aT 12pm (21/06/2013).deciding to move to them after enduring some shoddy signal from cell c.
within a few hours my number was ported.which means that i could not use on my old phone.it was all approved via sms.
saturday came and went and still not able to make or receive calls.called customer service.they explained the contract had not been activated. I did get a phone call from vodacome again on sunday explaining that by 12am monday morning i would have service and that it would all be activated.

its now monday evening and my phone has still not been activated.called them again and nothing has happened yet.this is a phone i use for work.what is going on? Ive told my number is still on prepaid. Why? ive just paid somewhere in the region of R800 to get service

im told again by vodacom waterfront i need to wait for tuesday to get it activated.still cant make calls or receive them.tuesday will be day 4 with no service.

who is responsible for this? the phone was not activated instore when i opened the contract.
the phone was not checked for any damages either.
Is this something i have to ask them to do
