Slow internet

I am on a MTN Unlimited Lite plan, and my internet speeds are down to below 8kbps. I am aware that they throttle your download speed after 3GB of data, but I was told it will only go down to 256kbps when the throttle is applied. It is not the first time that this has happened, some months I go up to 20GB with the 256kbps but now all of a sudden it is down to 8kbs. It is totally unacceptable.
