Deductions after contract cancellation

I joined their gym in August and the contract was based on the activation of vitality to lessen the gym fees. My work wouldn't pay for the vitality part and there for I cancelled the existing contract before the activation date of 1 Septemer. I was asked to write a letter explaining why I need to cancel which I did before September. In October I have had over R1000 deducted off my account in three separate transactions. I keep asking why this money is being taken and how much more I am expected to pay and no one can answer me. Surely if I never used the facilities and cancelled before the activation date I should not have to pay anything. I have asked for the actual contract to see what I am on for with regards to cancellations and yet still haven't received it. I think it is very unethical to keep deduction money off my account as you feel. The original amount to be paid was R200/month. This month I have paid them over R1000 which I haven't budgeted for. I feel this is very unethical business practice. I can't seem to sort this out with them and they have no answers for me. I have been dealing with Ofentse Lerumo who cannot give me any answers.
