After my 2 year contract with Virgin expired, I continued with them on a month-to-month basis. In July 2012, I cancelled my agreement with due notice in writing, and with a final deduction of one months gym fees for the notice month.
Someone from Virgin phoned me after my cancellation letter and asked if I would be interested in remaining a member if they reduced the fees or something to that effect. I am a professional person and at the time I was not able to discuss the matter as I busy with clients. They would have called me again later. I have never thereafter spoken to anyone from Virgin Active.
On 3 June 2013, I received an SMS from my bank confirming a deduction of R 389 from my bank account in favour of Virgin Active. I asked my bookkeeper to draw me all of 2013 bank statements. Lo - and - behold! An amount of R 389 was deducted for March, April and May 2013!
I e-mailed Virgin and requested a refund. They confirmed cancellation of any future debit orders but refuse to refund me because of some "retention offer", I apparently accepted. I never accepted any offer and put them to the proof thereof. I want my money to be refunded immediately!!
