A TECHNICIAN WIPED INFORMATION WITHOUT BACKING UP

ON 09/02/2013 @10:00, I TOOK MY LAPTOP TO INCREDIBLE CONNECTION FOR BACKUP & LOAD KARPENSKY ANTI VIRUS SINCE IT HAS EXPIRED.THE COMPUTER WAS SLOW & HAD FAULTS. THE TECHNICIAN, SOSO MKHIZE PROPOSED TO INSTALL A NEW WINDOW & QUOTED ME R1800.00 FOR SIDE BACK UP ON A HARD DRIVE, INSTALL THE WINDOW & ANTI VIRUS. HE ADVISED ME TO WAIT FOR TWO HOURS. HE GAVE ME NOTHING TO SIGN RECEIPT OF MY LAPTOP. AFTER AN HOUR HE CALLED ME & ASKED FOR A BITBLOCKER RECOVERY PIN CODE. I PROCEEDED TO THE SHOP & GAVE HIM. I WAS SURPRISED WHEN HE INFORMED THAT HE HAD ALREADY INSTALLED THE NEW WINDOW & CANNOT RETRIEVE INFO HE HAD BACKED UP. HE ADVISED ME TO WAIT FOR THE OTHER TWO HOURS TILL 18:00 WHEN THE STORE WAS CLOSED. I HAD TO LEAVE THE COMPUTER FOR FOUR DAYS UP UNTIL ON 13/02/2013 WHEN I VISITED THE SHOP & ASKED HIM FOR A BACK UP DRIVE HE USED & QUOTED ME FOR. HE THEN ADMITTED THAT HE NEVER BACKED UP ON A SEPARATE DRIVE, BUT ON THE DRIVE IN THE LAPTOP & APOLOGISED. I HAVE LOST ALL MY PERSONAL & BUSINESS INFO INCL FINANCIALS & DESIGNS. MR ELLIOT AGREED TO TRY TO RETRIEVE INFO FROM HARD DRIVE & ACCEPTED LIABILITY. HOWEVER, THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACCEPT LIABILITY ON THE BASIS OF NOTICES IN THE SHOP.
