Forever New's returns policy

I recently purchased gifts from Forever New, Pavillion for my Boss for Boss's which was on the 16th of October. I unfortunately was unable to see my boss since giving her her gifts as she was in Boardmeetings. I only saw her like 5 days later due to the weekend. She advised that the necklace was too tight around her neck and the earings where too big for her. I went to the Forever New store today and they were just not willing to assist me. I can understand if the earings cannot be exchanged but surely the necklace could have been exchanged. I even asked the manager to please make an exception as it was a gift. I was not informed that I would not be able to exchange or return these sort of items. I was also given a gift receipt which makes no sense out all. Why give a gift receipt, why will I even ask for a gift receipt if I was not buying it as a gift. I am very disappointed that the Manager was not even willing to assist me. These types of things should be highlighted to the customer when making a purchase, return period and the minor details of their return policy when it comes to jewelery.
