2 1/2 weeks after first application - still no acc

I first applied for a Woolworths store card online 2 1/2 weeks ago. I received an sms to say that they application had been received. I phoned a week later to find out what was going on with my application only to find out that it was not entered onto their system?!?! So I reapplied online and again received an sms. The following morning I phoned to make sure that the application was on their system this time, and luckily it was. I followed up a few days later to be told that their system was down and they could not work on the application.

After numerous phonecalls I am told that they are now able to work on the application. So phone call after email after phone call I make to ensure that they have all the documentation and information to process my application. Only to be told that my application is approved, but they cannot process the final step as there is a glitch in their computer system. It has been logged with their IT department, but it will not be resolved until next week Tuesday as their IT department only deals with these things a week in arears!

How on earth is someone supposed to build credit in this country when retailers are so incompetant?
