I lost my parking ticket at Sandton city, which costs R75. I reported the lost ticket and handed the parking official a R100 note to pay for it. He said he had no change and refused to go get as he said it was too busy. When I asked him for his name, he, saying it is 'David Gabriel.' (In the unlikely case it is, I apologise for this assumption.)
It is not the money that is the issue, but the principle that one of your parking officials can unapologetically make me pay more.
We have enough corruption in South Africa, surely this does not need to extend to our shopping centres as well. Retail is meant to be the backbone of our economy, not yet another place that South Africans feel swindled and unsafe.
