I arrive at the Parkview Mall parking at 16H44 on Monday 09 Sept 2013 to take my daughter to the doctor. We then meet my wife and have a quick supper. At 19H30, at the automated ticket machine to pay for our parking, my wife is charged R8 for the parking. (She arrived at 17H10.) Inserting my ticket, the machine asks me to pay R16. This I do NOT do as the signage on the machine clearly states; 2 HOURS FREE, 2-6 HOURS at R8, 6 HOURS PLUS at R35. Then it also states FLAT RATE OF R8.00 APPLIES OUTSIDE OF CHECKERS TRADING HOURS. Speaking to the very unhelpful staff, I eventually have to phone the parking manager, Gilbert, who is even more unfriendly and very incompetent. His solution is that I must pay R8 cash to the attendant at the exit, then they will open the boom.
The big issue here is the blatant and that is going on by double charging people who use the parking. The attendants are aware of the problem, which shows that the centre management is also aware of this activity. Yet they continue this illegal practise.
