Over 2 years ago we switched from ADT to Chubb, we already had a system with ADT so Chubb installed their radio and keypad.
Earlier this month we wanted to switch over to Pinewatch, I phoned up Chubb and they told us that we "have to" finish the 36 month contract. Even though the agreement said we didn't have to and so does the consumer protection act, which I sent to them, they didn't argue anymore and accepted this now.
However they told us that we must pay them R1710 for deinstallation of the system, I told them we will deinstall the system ourselves and bring it to them. Chubb said okay but said that we must still pay them the deinstallation fee, after some fighting Chubb backed down.
Now Chubb sent us a list of things they want back from us which they never installed or supplied, I asked them for proof of supplying or installing this and they were unable to supply us with any proof whatsoever. Yet they still demanded they want these items they never gave us and don't belong to them, some of these items are non-existent on our premises even.
I feel Chubb is unethically trying to punish us for trying to leave them, and their tactic is dishonesty, malice and greed. Very sad!
