Suspending services before month end

I received a statement that was send to me on the 28th (Monday) and I paid my account on the 28th the same date however the service was suspended as the due date was as per statement the 27th (Sunday) if they do not send the statement out in time and on a week end how can they expect payment in time and over a week end. the point is the calendar month ends on 31st. then you have to pay connection fees this has happened more than once now and I still would like to see the contract that stipulates that who decides these cut off dates. because if you inquire all you get is sorry the cut of date was due.
