Actually, whose money is it? Our or Mariana Pera's

After deciding that we are buying a property from Harcourts, they appointed Mariana Pera Conveyancer (Lawyers) to transfer the property, these lawyers based on the contract said we must pay a deposit (they needed approval in principle from whichever bank that approved). We gave gave them approval in principle that we were granted 90% of the loan. We spoke to Nicci/Elza and Elaine asked her (Nicci) if we will not have a problem getting our deposit back should another bank offer us 100% - R51 000.00? She said we won't have a problem. During that time, another bank offered us 100% of the loan. We requested our deposit back and they requested the approval in principle, which we gave them, they then requested that give them the signed loan aggrement, which we did, we had to sign some form next to the commissioner of oaths - which we did. They now want to speak to the bank lawyers (which we don't understand why). Now, it's as if we're asking them to give us some money (their money), we just want our money back. Why are we being sent from pillar to post to receive our money back? Are we ever going to get it back? At whose time - who must decide??
