First National Bank
Witholding bond guarantee and no communication

Since I applied for a home loan I have received nothing but bad service from FNB. Firstly there was a change in my sale agreement of the unit I was purchasing. I immediately sent the details to the bank. The bank still gave the valuator the incorrect information and then they cancelled my loan application without informing me. I only found out when I queried my application. After I managed to reinstate the loan I received my approval in principal on 07/03/2013. The details were sent to the lawyers on 18/03/2013 to register the bond. I signed the bond registration documents with the lawyers on 12/04/2013. On 24/04/2013 I was informed that the bank has retained my full bond amount as they need the sectional title plans. I went to the municipal offices to get a copy of the plans and submitted this to the lawyers on 25/04/2013. The lawyers confirmed on 30/04/2013 that the plans had been sent to the bank. On 13/06/2013 I was informed by the lawyer that the bank had still not lifted the retention and had lost the submitted plans. The seller of the property I am buying from has now placed me in breach of contract and is charging me 14.5% interest until the retention is lifted.
