I spoke with owner (principal) at Koalet. She confirmed and said that they make up their own rules "daar is geen wet of geen bewyse nie, die woorde kom uit my mond", that they do not work according to the law when it comes to new rental agreements. They wanted my husband to pay a double deposit amount (believe me it is a pretty penny) just because my husband works for himself - and so they then create their own rules based on their own words and not the law? Is this not DISCRIMINATION against people that works for themselves and trying to make an honest living? If you think that the law stipulates that the deposit amount should be paid into an interest-bearing (investment) account in the name of the lessee and that the deposit amount should be agreed upon... discussed... not made up! I cannot believe that they get away with things like this... Can someone please help?
