Unprofessional, unethical business and!

In October 2012 I took occupancy of property leased by Sherlock Homes. Throughout my experience until end June 2013, I was overcharged for electricity, had my electricity cut because the owner was late in paying their rates and I lost over R1800 in frozen foods and perishibles because of the electricity cuts (4 in total). Having had no joy from the rental agency (Sherlock Homes) and being told that if I had an issue, to move; I gave notice to do just that.

I was hospitalised in the last week of June with pneumonia and could only move in the first week of July. Having been told there was no tenant to take occupancy, this shouldn't have been an issue and the week would be deducted from my deposit. I agreed with this and didn't mind at all as my furniture was in the premises for this period. I signed my agreement and eventually received the remainder of my deposit, excluding the electrical deposit which amounted to R2500.

After several unanswered calls and having left several messages, I emailed Sherlock Homes on the 9th August to query the money owing to me. I eventually received response after several calls again on the 17th August stating I was liable for the owner's bills!
