The gold card system in place at the Guatrain stations is failing.
Twice on my last two trips have I been withheld at the station against my will due to system errors!
On the first occasion, the card apparently did not record my entering the Sandton station, however the turn-style opened as usual, when i got to Rhodesfield i was labeled a train hopper and forced to sign a "Fair warning" form stating that if it happened again, I would be fined / banned from using the Gautrain!!!
Yesterday after cuing for 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot due to the insufficient number of exits, a system error stated that i had already left using my gold card & the boom would not open.
After calling the supervisor over the intercom i was instructed to return to the ticket office, where it was confirmed that i was correct, and had indeed not left the station yet.
Their attitude was pathetic and borderline when attending to a problem which was not caused by me.
The only rectification they could offer was a validated parking ticket, and sent me on my way to join the back of the cue to wait another 15 minutes to get out.
