For the past month I have tried to become a regular Gautrain user. Not to save money or even time (it takes longer to reach my place of work when I use Gautrain), but to make a small contribution towards a greener lifestyle.
However, after a month I feel that Gautrain is a rip-off. It does not help to complain, because the personnel at the help desk are very stubborn and just tell you that you have to accept how the system works. The fact that Gautrain customer services do not even bother to reply on HelloPeter complaints, is just the limit.
The last straw for me is the fact that I had to pay R85-00 for parking yesterday. I used Gautrain in the morning, and parked my car at Centurion station. I travelled with Gautrain from Centurion to Pretoria. In the afternoon I had a meeting in Hatfield. A colleague offered me a lift to the meeting, which lasted until 18h00. The same colleague offered to drop me off at Centurion station where my car was parked. I find it ridiculous that I had to pay R85-00 for a day's parking at Gautrain station even though I used Gautrain in the moring.
In future, I'll use Gautrain on an ad hoc basis for family outings, and nothing else.
