Department Of Home Affairs
2 years and still no identity document

I applied for my sons Identity document and a change of surname in October 2011. It is now November 2013 and not only did they mess up at Wynberg office in Cape Town by not letting us fill in ALL the relevant details but they never let us know it wasnt all filled in until I queried why it was talking so long. His dad was out of the country and could not sign the form they required the second time around but as soon as I could we sorted that out. Its now 2013, and if i phone the tollfree number it says his Identity Application was suspended??? if I phone Wynberg office they tell me its at Amendments. My son cant register for Matric. He cant vote as he wanted to next year cause he could not register and he cant go anywhere with his friends where they require Identity documents to prove you are of age. This is disgusting. Its ridiculous. Its certainly NOT rocket science but all the ranting and raving, pleading and begging for some answer has brought me no luck. No joy whatsoever. I am still waiting even after contacting The Ministers office. I dont know what more I can do to get someone out there to listen and help???
