Department of Home Affairs
Taken from piller to post

Hi,

My name is Yanga Millicent Mehana, on the 16 Febuary 2013 i went to the Department of Home affairs to collect my Identity document which went well, I then asked if i could apply for a birth certificate for my daughter. The lady that was assisting me with my ID then directed me into the que with the document i had with me to apply for my daughter's birth certificate. When i went to the counter where i was called for assistant the document from the hospital where i gave birth (Edenvale) had a date from 2012 the lady whom was assisting me then directed me to the manager because of the expired date on the document i got from the hospital, i was then told to go back to Edenvale hospital to get a stamp with 2013 date. I did as the manager asked me to on that very day, got a stamp as i was told then went back to home affairs with a document that had a 2013 stamp. Whilst the very lady that was trying to assist me gave me Home affairs documents to fill so i can proceed with the application ONLY THEN the manager tells me i was supposed to get a brand new document from the hospital (Edenvale) with a 2013 stamp the manger then also told me they can not call the hospital for verification..
