Bus service not "occasional" user friendly

On 24 October 2013 my wife needed to fly to Cape Town for business. As this happens once or twice year we decided to make use of this bus transport facility for the first time. We tried to board the bus at Clear Water, just to be told as we did not have a credit on our Gautrain card they cannot allow her on the bus. I asked where we could add the credit on the card so the she could get to Sandton Station. They confirmed that this could only be done at Sandton Station. Please explain to me how this makes your service customer friendly?
