I recently used the Gautrain between Sandton and Hatfield and I parked my car at the Hatfield station the previous day (5/5/2013) as the Gautrain buses do not service the area in Pretoria to which I travel to.
On the 6th I forgot my car keys in JHB and as soon as I realized this I got off the train and got back onto next the returning train. On my return, I could not exit the gates and at the ticket counter I was made to sign a form warning me that I am "evading gautrain fees" and in which I "consented" to a R400 fine should this happen again. Might I add that this was done under duress as I could not exit the terminal without signing such a form. Under no circumstances was I evading fees and I felt that this was rather inappropriate given the circumstances. A trip from Sandton to Marlbro was added to my fare and I proceeded to fetch my keys and I took the Gautrain back to Pretoria for which I paid again.
In the afternoon the woes continued. I now could not exit with my girlfriend's car which I parked at the Sandton station earlier that day. The "boomgate operator" was rude, unhelpful and downright dismissive and so were the security officers who blatantly ignored me...
