My girlfriend and I were disgusted with the unhelpful attitude of Phumzile Methula and the rudeness of Ipeleng Lethole at the Sandton Gautrain station this afternoon.
After waiting over 10 minutes for the 16:38 train to Hatfield the doors of the train closed before we could get on as the passengers boarding and the passengers disembarking had been blocking each other's way. We were rather upset but decided that there's nothing we could do but wait for the 17:08 train. However, as we were incredibly hungry we decided to leave the station and come back later. Upon swiping our Gold cards we were unable to exit the station.
We then enquired with Phumzile Methula about this. She made no effort to assist us and just explained that we couldn't leave after 10 minutes inside the station while her colleague, Ipeleng Lethole, made rude comments in the background. Just a friendly explanation and being even slightly apologetic about the situation would have made the world's difference.
We will certainly think twice before making use of the Gautrain again if that is the way your staff treats us!
