I used Gautrain for the first time on Wed 28 Aug. I was going to Sandton so I parked my car at Midrand Gautrain and bought a RETURN train ticket because I would later return to fetch my car. It was a nice smooth ride which is on par with the fast train facilities in Europe.
Now here's the problem: The parking fee is R15 for 24hours. I bought my RETURN ticket and also paid for the parking. I got dropped off at the Midrand station later that evening. To my surprise the station was locked with my car, house keys and Laptop. They refused to let me take my car or even my house keys or Laptop stating reasons that people cars at night so they don't let people in (which raises a security concern).
Anyway I had to return the following morning and pay an additional R59 (Totaling R100 to exit parking) to take my car even though 24hours had not struck. They said that I didn't use the return trip so I will have to pay more for parking even though I paid for the return trip the previous day. This is totally ridiculous and I'm failing to understand the logic behind this.
Somebody please explain this to me because I find this to be a total ripoff and totally unnecessary!
