On Saturday 03 August 2013 my fianc? and I went to Ellis Park stadium to watch a rugby match between Lions and Kings. After the rugby match 19:10 we were pulled over by a metro police officer who confronted him and asked if he had been drinking. He was honest enough to admit that he had drank 2 beers during the match. The police officer then said very politely, " So what you gonna do, cause I have to lock you up now." I intervened and told the officer well in that case let me take the wheel as I had not consumed any alcohol. He then said no, no we have to resolve this matter. He took my fianc? to his police vehicle which was parked on the side of the road and demanded we pay him R500.00 on the spot and he will let us go. We did not have that much cash on us however under mere pressure had to pay the officer R200.00.
How corrupt can this world be?
My fianc? was not breathalyzed to confirm his alcohol consumption nor was the correct law enforcement used.
I want something to be done about this and this matter investigated!!!
If we had paid R200 to get off that night, how many other vehicles paid their way out and how much money did this officer make on the side that night
