I was quoted R4000 for a car with agreed airport drop off and was asked to pay all upfront R2500 retainer for 26days. 5April–1May The car wasn’t ready and I was handed a lower spec car for 5days. Later drove back to exchange it. I never got a discount for the lower specs car/driving to exchange. The car had many faults e.g.speedometer not working I had to shorten my stay to the 22Apr. The owner agreed to amend the contract then changed his mind. I explained that any car rental would elevate daily rate/recalculate accordingly. He arrogantly replied: «this is not Germany or Avis, it’s my own business. I run it as I see fit» Eventually he agreed to R200 PD.but calculated 18 days instead of 17 At the airport drop off I was handed R200 instead of 600 (R200 for airport drop off! and 18 days rental vs17) I asked if we could check the day count with other hirers. He raised his tone"You are not to tell me how to run my business" Then he said: «Look into my eyes! I do not like to speak to people who not look into my eyes! what are you? a coward?» He stared at me uncomfortably close to my face and threatened: «I am bigger than you and I can and will punch you in the face right here and you up! "
