Account paid years ago but still getting threats

Hi there
I have settled my LeMorgan account in 2008 if not 2009.
I liaised with a lady named Selena and she assisted me with providing bank details in which to pay the settlement amount as well as to provide me with a letter to say that my account has been closed.
At that time, I was working in the financial industry and Selena emailled the letter to me using my old email adress. I subsequently left the bank and never thought of printing the letter. Years later and everyone is phoning me, demanding that I pay or else...
Noone knows Selena and according to them, she worked at the previous collecting agent who no longer services Le Morgan (like thats my problem).
Dont they have any record of the previous company who did their collections? Surely they must know something or the records must be somewhere. But like all things in South Africa, ignorance is bliss and therefore no one cares to try and find aout. W are talking about R8000.00 which I dont have to pay again.
PLUS to make matters worst, on trying to report a problem with my pan, the consultant tells me that my account is in arrears and therefore I need to first settle that account before they can fix the pan. What a nerve.
