After account settled they say I am in arrears

I contacted African Bank call centre on 1 Mar '12 as I wanted to to settle my Furniture City account. I was given a settlement amount and I paid the R5000 on 7 Mar, as was provided to me.
During April African Bank called me saying my account was in arrears and I said I had settled the account on 7 Mar. I faxed proof of payment of the R5000 to them as requested. I emailed proof of payment to Ms Bosman (collections manager) on 18 Apr stating that the payment was in full and final settlement of my account. I did not receive any response.
Towards the end of June I received several phone calls from African Bank agents saying that my account is in arrears and I told them I had settled my account in full. I had asked for Ms Bosman to phone me on several occasions but she never did.
I sent a letter to Ms Bosman on 30 Jul '12 explaining the problem with my account and requesting a settlement letter but got no response.
I heard nothing from African Bank until they debited my bank account for R812.49 on 28 Jan 2013, with no authority. My bank returned the debit order.
I received a call last week from Thato at African Bank saying they handed my account to legal.
I am at my wit's end!
