Disappointed would be an understatement

When I went from my parents' medical aid with Discovery onto my own, a few years ago, I remember how I struggled to get my Vitality details updated with Virgin Active. So this time, after adding a dependant to my medical aid, I wanted to make sure that the same thing doesn't happen again. I phoned Discovery & Virgin Active several times to check that there won't be any gaps or any trouble with the dependant's Vitality as I wanted to ensure that his gym membership won't be affected (to avoid having to pay the gym's joining fee's again) I was assured that his details would be updated automatically and there won't be any problems.
But then last night when we got to the gym, he was stopped and told that his Vitality has been cancelled.
This morning I phoned Virgin Active, who told me to phone Discovery to get a "Batch file Number"... whatever that is! Called Discovery and long story short... He now has to pay another Joining fee... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, I've followed all the steps they told me to, in order to make sure this DOES NOT happen and yet it still did. So yes, Disappointed would be an understatement.
