I had R20294.99 in my Discovery Medical Savings on Friday the 13th Dec 2013. I went to Spec-Savers on Sat 14th Dec and received an e-mail on Monday 16th Dec from Discovery that they will only pay R3350.00 towards my specs, leaving a balance of R1144.00 which I have to pay from my pocket. I want to know why I have to pay this when my Medical Savings CREDIT Balance is now on R16944.99 after the R3350.00 was paid to Spec-Savers? I fully understand about the various limits, however why is the difference not paid from the excess Savings? I have had to fill in an Application Form for Special payments to be made from the Medical Savings which is what I did, only to be told today that this takes up to 5 working days for approval. I have never abused my Medical Aid and that is why I have this excess credit; however I still cannot fathom why I have to pay anything from my pocket? Who will benefit from this credit if I can't?
