Discovery Health
Unprofessional financial inst./risk to deal with

On the 29 April 2013 i contacted Discovery Health call centre to request a withdrawal from the medical scheme. I specifically requested information about the amount owing to Discovery due to my Medical Savings Account (MSA) being pro-rated. The consultant that processed the withdrawal advised me incorrectly that I had a balance of R925.44 left in my Medical Savings Account (MSA) after processing the withdrawal. She advised that Discovery would pay out any funds that are left in the Medical Savings Account (MSA) due to the member in the first week of the fifth month after the withdrawal. I have now recently been telephonically contacted (first form of direct contact from Discovery) to say that I owe R1970.56 and is payable by the end of July 2013 or I will be handed over to debt collectors and my credit profile affected as a result. I was informed by Habibah that she is the highest person that I could possibly deal with in this instance and very little attention was paid to the fact that I have been given incorrect information 3 months ago but rather that I owe a large amount now and will be expected to make a plan for payment. This is ethically unacceptable for a financial institution
