Out of the blue I receive an email to say that my gym membership has been cancelled and that I need to reactivate it. If I ever receive an email informing me of under utilization I am diligent in ensuring that I do the required number of visits in the required time. This time nothing was received, and the call center as well as the manager explain that they are not bound to inform you, and that this is out of courtesy. However, I beg to differ, Discovery has created a precedent of informing me when I need to go more frequently, and from this precedent have created a constructive obligation towards me. An organisation cannot decide to provide a courtesy service consistently for a period of 4 years, and then suddenly withdraw this service and claim to have no obligation to have to do so. This is totally unfair treatment, especially considering that I have been a loyal client for 10 yrs and a consistent gym member for 4 yrs, and now my membership has been cancelled as I was 1 visit too short. Do you really want me to have a balanced lifestyle, reduced stress and a healthy level of activity? I think not.. it looks like you are out to add stress, create unwellness and take more money!!
