Until recently, we have been very happy with Fedhealth.
But in the last few months they have done 2 major things that changed our minds:
1. My obgyn is apparently not a network dr - which means that of the R12540 he charged for the delivery of our baby, Fedhealth only paid R3188.40. I can't understand why the difference is sooo large?!?! I can't imagine that my Dr charges 4x more than others!
Besides, of all specialities, a patient needs to feel comfortable with their obgyn and I don't think it's fair that I get penalised for the fact that the dr I choose to look after that particular need of mine isn't affiliated with them!
If I knew when joining them that I would only really benefit from going to certain drs, I would NEVER have joined Fedhealth!!
2. My husband had an allergic / sensitivity reaction to medication. He was having severe and painful muscle spasms, especially in his neck. So we went to the Emergency Room on a Saturday morning - which, being religious Jews, meant it really was an emergency. The doctors there figured out that it was dystonia and a reaction to medication.
Fedhealth however, didn't consider it an emergency so refused to pay.
