Life Healthcare
Pay for no stay

Why are people too poor to afford medical aid charged exorbitant rates? After pleading for medical aid rates and being denied, the surgeon intervened and got me reasonable rates. However my daughter stayed an extra night and landed up being in hospital 47 hours and 32 minutes. Imagine my shock when I'm billed for 60 hours! I'm later told that she was admitted before 12 so for that extra half hour I must pay R1518.17! No one at admitting warned me that I would be billed a whole day for arriving early to miss a wait. I am always early for appointments as it is rude and arrogant to be late. Why wasn't I told and offered the option to wait until 12:00? I am shocked that they expect me to pay this extra expense as I can barely afford to make ends meet. Is this how Life care defrauds medical aids by ensuring that people aren't warned that they will be charged so much more by arriving early? Shame on you!
