My daughter had her wisdom teeth out at Strand Mediclinic, I had to pay in R2 400, as told by the medical aid and the person who booked my daughter in. Now I have received an account from Mediclinic Vergelegen saying we owe another R1 250, because both hospitals practice under one practice code, even though one is a day clinic and the other a hospital, so they can charge hospital rates for a day clinic. This is blatant! Why should I pay hospital rates when we weren't even at Mediclinic Vergelegen? This is just another way private hospitals clients and medical aids and something should be done about it.
