I dropped my Toyota Yaris off for a 75, 000km service on Saturday and was quoted R1395.00. During the monring I was called by the gentleman who runs the reception and was told that the extra work on the car would push the total bill up to R3383.68. I confirmed that with the extra work the TOTAL bill would be R3383.68 and the gentleman said that yes that was correct. I also asked whether the vehicle would still be ready at 1pm and he once again confirmed that it would. When I arrived at 1pm I was told that the car would be another 30 minutes. This was hugely inconvenient as I had visitors arriving at my home in 45 minutes and there was nobody there to let them in and so had to make a special arrangement for this. Eventually at 3pm the car was ready (two hours later than promised!!!) and I was presented an invoice for R3857.40!!! It would appear that the gentleman who quoted me failed to mention the VAT - which is not acceptable by South African law!! The amount that was debited to my card was R3957.40!! None of these amounts make sense but I do believe that I am owed a refund of R573.72. The car also now sounds like it's about to lose a part!!!
